Japan’s wind meets Swedish forests – with Yasukazu KANO and Mattias Lindberg

  • Japanese winds blow through Swedish forests. Welcome to a musical meeting between world-renowned flute master Yasukazu Kano from Japan and Stockholm-based jazz pianist Mattias Lindberg.


    Master flutist and composer Yasukazu Kano visited Sweden for the first time in 2019 and fell in love with Swedish folk music – its deep feeling, its closeness to nature, and the way it has grown through generations. In the meeting with the versatile pianist Mattias Lindberg, a musical dialogue arose that bridges tradition and innovation, Japan and Sweden, East and West.
    Through Kano’s shinobué flute, with its timeless simplicity, and Lindberg’s delicate piano playing, where folk music is intertwined with classical and jazz elements, the duo has created a unique musical world. The collaboration has deepened and developed, and their music has touched and touched an audience that recognizes itself in both the familiar and the unfamiliar.
