Creating JAPANESE POP STANDARDS
When it comes to the roots of my melody making, I wondered if it came from the Japanese pop music I grew up listening to rather than from traditional Japanese music or the famous western tunes by artists such as The Beatles, Coltrane, and Miles.
With my original arrangements with shinobue and piano by Masaki HAYASHI, I made this album to attract many people through collections of songs from the Showa and Heisei eras. I thoughtfully selected everyone’s favorite songs with tunes that are singable with my shinobue.
I believe that recreating Japanese pop music is very creative. It is just like the world-known musicians remaking movie soundtracks into standard classics.
In Japan, it is a trend that people prefer vocal music; hence the term “moved by the lyrics” exists. However, I hope to reach the audience by using shinobue, which was born in Japan and I have included many traditional folk songs featuring my vocal-like style. I think many people will sympathize even more with these favorite memorable songs.
I hope this music will become a pleasant daily wind everywhere you go.
